Apparently Alberta has some serious assets…

On May 31, 2025, Rick Bell (rbell@postmedia.com) wrote an opinion piece.

Here’s the link to his article >

I’ve pasted the first few sentences, that are shown below. The headline for this story was >

Danielle Smith and Alberta give Mark Carney an offer he shouldn’t refuse

It is a letter. A five-page letter.

You could call it THE letter. Whatever happens with this letter will play a big, big part in Alberta’s place in Canada going forward.

It is dated May 16, signed by Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and addressed to Prime Minister Mark Carney.

On Monday, June 2, this letter will be on the table when Carney sits down with the premiers in Saskatoon.

Before Smith gets around to making her offer, she begins her letter to Carney talking about how what Alberta wants will “address serious issues plaguing Canada’s economic well-being and the very real sense of alienation felt across the West.”

This is serious stuff. Alberta has had more than enough.

The premier writes how Alberta’s oil and gas is valued at $14 trillion. That’s trillion with a T.

Well – that last sentence shown above – really caught my “eye”. This dollar amount is HUGE…!

So I decided to try and make an image.

There’s probably a million ways to visually illustrate the contents of this article. But seeing the “T” – was my main focus… 🙂

For props – I decided to use a PumpJack (which actually does move – but that is for a video to be done later), 3d letters for “Alberta” and “Oil & Gas”, Pipelines and Valves and the $$$ Money $$$.

One starts by putting the main pieces on the seamless, moving stuff around and slowly a logical design comes together. At some point, I added the small Canadian flag onto the PumpJack – as a test.

Near the end of the composition, I realized that some small Alberta flags were needed – to help finish off the image. Put the shoot on hold. Found some on amazon.ca and they were delivered on June 7th. Think these flags – placed in the rear, add more strength and branding – to the final image.
